Awesome fantasy photo manipulations from Ian Jasper Reyes

Photo manipulations is an art within an art. A designer takes a group of sometimes mediocre stock images and breathes new life into it to create something surreal, an almost magical scene that are usually found only in the artists distorted dreams. A good photo manipulation can easily teleport you to a place or a scene that you know doesn’t exist but lives only in our imagination.

Enter the young up and comer Ian Jasper Reyes from Tarlac City, Philippines. Fresh out of college, he pursued his love of challenges for creating surreal photo manipulations with very impressive results. His humble beginnings started out by playing around with small scale TAGS and SIGS just for his personal amusement. He eventually started joining contests which helped secure his confidence with his work while he gradually pushed the envelop for a larger work canvas. Ian Jasper *slash Vinc found inspiration from the works of other artists on deviantart.com and wowmagz.com to name a few.

Currently focusing his artistry on his brand new passion for large dimension digital canvasses he proved time and time again that he can overcome it’s downside, like how frustrating it can sometime gets to fill it up with elements that would mesh nicely together. But Vinc seems to be doing this pretty well. And we are featuring him here at prodigalconcepts.com because we acknowledge that skills and talent knows no age, and if you happen to have found your calling early you will just keep getting better and better. Ian Jasper or Vinc clearly proves this to be true.

Jim Faustino’s wonderful toy sculptures

No matter how old we get we never forget our love for toys, creative folks and especially young professionals can be seen inside their favorite toy shops on the weekends (or after work) to ogle at the new released action figure. And they’re not scouting the premises to buy that shiny new toy for their kids or their younger siblings. They’re on a mission to get the latest work of art out of the store shelf and be among their increasing priced collection.

Now what if you are like our featured artist of the week, he doesn’t visit toy shops simply to purchase someone else’s work, although I’m sure he has quite the collection. He also goes inside the magical emporiums to be inspired and probably to get some raw materials because Jim Faustino makes his own toys, yup he’s a toy maker of sorts he’s a regular Geppetto. He’s also an Illustrator, Painter, Comic book and Action figure enthusiast and the skill that brought him to our attention, a Sculptor. Another talented Filipino doing what he loves and being good at what he does Jim is a world class act and an inspiration to all of us.

Aside from his day job Jim Faustino is also a part of an eclectic team of artists at www.glasshousegraphics.com which is a professional service firm who collaborates and brings together individuals from different areas of expertise.

Last week we had some visually appetizing sets with Serial Cut Studio | Madrid a company who collaborates with the best of the best the industry has to offer from photography, design, motion-graphics and 3D. Today were hitting closer to home with the dynamic duo of ElectroLychee direct from the Philippines. Individually they are Marcushiro & Bru, graphic designer, illustrator, visual artist. What exactly do they do you ask? Uhmmn, they merge illustration with design that’s all. Take a closer look and I’m sure you’ll catch them playing within the realms of the slick, computer-generated vector art combined, melded and fused with organic, hand-drawn imagery.

Elpinoy Chester Ocampo’s Awesome Illustrations

I’ve featured a few articles on illustrators and their illustrations since I started prodigalconcepts.com. Graphic illustrations are manifestations of all the youthful imaginations we have as kids. Having them realized in print and digital form just makes it more enjoyable. Just like magic coming to life, it’s exciting. And with all the great artists out there it’s hard to describe the feeling of pride to find a homegrown talent among the multitudes of graphic illustrators we have today, it’s simply awesome.

Today we have someone who’s work would make any graphic loving Filipino proud to be Pinoy! A very talented Illustrator who goes by the name “Elpinoy” roughly translates as “The Pinoy” or “The Filipino” at deviantart.com Chester Ocampo in-real life (IRL) is a digital illustrator based in Manila. His projects include but are not limited to promotional pieces and advertising, comic books, comic book covers, character design and concept art. Chester Ocampo has been commissioned to do art work for notable companies like Animax, Cartoon Network, EA Comics, Berserk Entertainment and the list goes on.

I’ve compiled a few of his best works in this post I hope you guys like them. And may you find inspiration in his work or simply drool and enjoy them.

I featured January “Jan” Cavan’s dawghousedesignstudio.com in my previous article Inspirations: Cultural themed website designs where I highlighted her web site’s grungy doodle inspired design.

In that article I wrote that doodling and doodlers are now gaining momentum in the design community. To expand on that notion I would like to introduce you to a tribe of doodlerinos and doodlerinas from the Philippines going by the name “WeeWillDoodle”, and as their name suggests, They… Will… Doodle! And it doesn’t matter what surface it is, a wooden board, a concrete wall, shoes, I even saw their doodle work on a Honda, seriously!

What’s exciting about WeeWillDoodle is that they are comprised of individuals from different social backgrounds with diverse influences, a boiling cauldron of creativity. But they doodle collectively as one, creating one ginormous masterpiece. You can say they are like a “fusion rock band” and doodling is their music. Their website mentioned how they started out similarly, every one of them loving to doodle since they were young. And the group agrees how doodling can be a Zen-like experience, it’s a fun activity that also can spontaneously release frustrations.

The guys and gals of WeeWillDoodle has been doodling since May 2007, and it didn’t take a long time for them to get noticed. They’ve been getting commissioned to doodle on walls and/or ceilings of fashion boutiques, offices and even bedrooms. They’ve doodled on promotional merchandise, shirts, bags and on occasion some skin, you name it they will doodle on it. Check out some of their work.
